Hello James, your blog is wonderful. Your writing is so much better than average and so glad you are making it available to the public.
I agree somewhat about ipod, however, just like with the internet and “surveillance society” the ipod has a good and a bad side. Yes, it can be isolating and people don’t talk to each other anymore, etc.
I personally used the ipod (or something like that, music through tiny headphones) when I became sober. It was an important tool. Instead of going to see music anymore (I can’t and don’t want to go to bars anymore) I use it when I go running. Exercise has been instrumental in helping get off and stay off alcohol, cigarettes and substances.
I use it to drown out the insults of men. It seems there are always men who always want to say something, usually negative for us ladies over 35. So in this case I view the ipod as helping me stay focused on my life and the things I need to be doing and not being dragged down by the nastiness of the attitudes of the men nearby…I know that many of them have a hard life but I don’t go around insulting strangers,,,..anyways I have more to say about this, but here;s just my two cents.
